Pet Shop Boys soundtrack to be unveiled in Trafalgar Square The Pet Shop Boys are to unveil their latest project, a soundtrack to the 1925 classic film Battleship Potemkin, at a free concert in Trafalgar Square on September 12. The band will play in front of a screening of the film with support from the Dresden Sinfoniker - a 26 piece string orchestra. Up to 15,000 people are expected to attend. The show is being produced by the Institute of Contemporary Arts as the final performance of the Trafalgar Square summer programme. Orchestrations on the soundtrack are by young German composer Torsten Rasch. "It's wonderful to be given the opportunity to write a complete soundtrack to this classic film and then perform it as a free concert in the heart of London," says Pet Shop Boy Neil Tennant. "The music is a combination of electronics and strings and, although mainly instrumental, includes three new songs." |
